Richard D Harmon Sr Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Richard D. Harmon, Sr. was born in Annona, Texas to the union of Ardenie Harmon and Gennie Ferince. He was the youngest of four children. He received his education in Bonham, Texas. He confessed to Christ at an early age and united with Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bonham, Texas. Where he met and married Willie Mae Marley. From that union two children were born, Richard Harmon, Jr. and William L. Harmon, Sr. He moved to California in 1943 and married Mary Rogers. He was employed by Marine Cooks and Stewards. No children where born to this union. Mattie Leach was a trusted companion after the loss of his wife Mary Harmon. He retired after 35 years of service in the Merchant Marines. Richard loved to watch all types of sports. He also loved to play dominoes and tell stories about his childhood. Richard was preceded in death by his wives: Willie Mae, Mary; companion, Mattie Leach; parents: Ardenie, Gennie Harmon; one brother, Eugene Osburn Hermen; two sisters: Lela Mae Lillie, Bessie Williams; one son, Richard Harmon, Jr.; two daughter-in-laws: Eura Mae Harmon, Ellie Mae Harmon; four nephews: T. (JoAnn) Whiteside, Arthur Hermen, Richard Hermen, Donald Hermen, David Walker. He leaves to cherish his memories, son, William Harmon, Sr., grandson, William (Rochelle) Harmon, Jr.; granddaughters: Marva (Robert) Holman; Beverly Lax; nephew, Jimmy Hermen; grand nephew, who took care of him, Alfie (Haroynne) Hermen; niece, Johnnie Walker; and a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks goes to Joy and Carmen for their faithful service and love to Richard.
